that has ever been made. The Bible says , He is our Shepherd. Do you know what a Shepherd is . It is a person who takes care of sheep. Sheep are very dumb. They do not know where to find good grass to eat and water to drink. So the Shepherd has to lead them there. Sometimes a sheep will fall and break its leg on a cliff or fall in a hole. The Shepherd will have to carry the sheep until it gets well. While the sheep is around the neck of the Shepherd , he grows very close to the Shepherd and does not want to be far away from the Shepherd when he does get well. The Shepherd loves the sheep and wants him to be safe and stay close to him so he will not get into danger. The Shepherd knows each sheep by name and will call the sheep by his name each night when he brings them into the sheep fold. ( a place for spending the night that is safe for sheep) Sheep love to wander off and sometimes get into danger ( Remember they are dumb animals). That is why the Shepherd must watch them very closely. There are wolves close by perhaps. If sheep are obedient to the Shepherd they will be safe. If they do not follow the Shepherd , they will be in trouble. |
