The Great Salvation
           (Hebrews)

The writer of Hebrews poses a question, perhaps one of the most sober and important questions ever asked mankind through the ages. He is writing to a people who had endured the suffering and trials that accompany following Jesus. They were growing weary and in danger of leaving what they had embraced, Christianity, and turning back to their former and more comfortable religion of Judaism. He has explained that Christ is supreme and then he asks the question which we must ask today. “How shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation?”   (Heb 2; 3) The answer is of course, we cannot escape.

Many Are In Danger

We today are in great danger. Many are turning from Christ and going back to the world, a world that offers nothing but destruction. A world with no hope of reward, except everlasting punishment. (Heb 10:27) It is appointed unto men once to die and then the judgment (Heb 9:27)

Christ Came To Save Sinners

Christ came to this world to save sinners. (Jn. 1:29) He entered into the Holy of Holies, which is heaven. He is there on the right hand of God making intercession for us. He ever lives to do that. (Heb 7:25)

A Rest for the People of God

Christians have a hope of entering that rest. (Heb 4:9) True it is that we face many trials but we have this hope both sure and steadfast as an anchor for our souls. (Heb 6:19) When these sufferings and trials come, we remember that we are being purified by God. We do not resist, but we patiently endure, knowing that after the chastening is over, the dross of our heart is taken away. It will yield the peaceable fruit of righteousness. (Heb 12:11) We will experience peace from God, a peace that passeth all understanding. (Phil 4:8)

Let Us Encourage One Another

Sisters , let us  encourage, and exhort one another  to continue on with the race that is set before us, to lay aside the weight of any sin that could beset us .( Heb2 12 :1)  Let us  leave the milk of the word and go on to the strong meat, ( the powerful word of God ) so that our senses may be exercised to discern both good and evil. (Heb 5:14) Let us remember the all seeing eyes of God. (11 Chron 16:9)

We Have a Great Savior

Let us call to remembrance our Perfect High Priest, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, and separate from sinners and made higher than the heavens.  (Heb 7:26) Let us exhort one another to holiness daily, for without holiness no man shall see God. Let us encourage one another to come boldly to God’s throne of grace, that we might obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. (Heb 4:16) Let us suffer the word of exhortation when needed and not shrink back unto perdition, but press on, looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith. We do indeed have a Great Salvation.
