·Other memorable moments:After the death of Jesus, he took the Lord's mother, Mary, as his own. He was also the first to see the glorious sight of the empty tomb. According to tradition, John was banished to the Island of Patmos after he survived being thrown into boiling oil under Domitian.

·General facts:Was one of the 3 apostles closest to Jesus. Present at Christ’s transfiguration. John is the only disciple to be recorded as being present at the crucifixion of Christ.
