A Bitter Pill to Swallow!

By Wilma Hendrick

This article was written in response to an email I received about a new birth control pill that is very hazardous to a woman's health.

Birth control has been known to cause blood clots for years. The doctors will not tell you, but it says so in the medical material enclosed with the pills. Many women trying to avoid pregnancy take them, without reading and suffer the results. I learned this when I worked at the Problem Pregnancy in Ft. Worth.

The Danger in Silence

Because these drugs are such big money makers no one will tell that they also lower your immune system making you susceptible to STD's. Pelvic Inflammatory Disease is one of the STDs that is a result of taking the pill and having sex with someone who might have an a STD. This PID can result in cervical cancer as a side effect. These are just a few of the problems.

The most serious problem is that the pill causes women to have a false sense of security and they have entered into sins of fornication and adultery that they never would have dared to do before "THE PILL" .

Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.  (I Cor. 6:9-10)

The result of the pill is teenage pregnancy, abortion on demand and lives shattered by sin. Yet our nation continues in this downward spiral not wanting to change, repent and turn to God.

God is a gracious God and will forgive if we truly repent and and are obedient to His words in the Bible.

If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land (II Chron 7:14).

Some young Christian might say, "Well, I am not thinking of taking the pill until after I get married". Please , if you are really interested in living a holy life, go to your local Pro-Life center and request this material on the pill. DO NOT GO TO "PLANNED PARENTHOOD"! Most people do not realize that Planned Parenthood is one of the largest abortion mills in our country and is federally funded.

I did not know that contraceptives are a fairly new thing in our country. There were great debates in the 1930s. Before then, "The ethical question of whether contraception is morally permissible has varied among the Catholic Church and the Protestant churches. Both agreed on the "sin of contraception" before 1930. (Smith, Janet. Contraception, Why Not ? @One more Soul .Dayton, Ohio.)

Check it Out

There is debate that the pill can cause early abortion, being an abortifacient, (i.e... an agent that causes an early abortion) When the pill was introduced it was "much stronger" (layman's term). Because of blood clots, strokes and such like it has been weakened, thus allowing one to ovulate at times and conceive. The pill for years has been charged with making the lining of the uterus "hostile" to a baby , thus the newly conceived baby cannot attach to the lining and flushes out.

Please again, I say, go to the local Pro-Life center and check this out for your self. Or perhaps it can be checked out on the computer. I do not have that information.

Ungodly Attitudes

I believe that all of the above had its beginning when people began to see children as a burden and not as a blessing as God has instructed us. We have become a selfish people (even in the church !). We do not see multiple children in a family as a gift from God but a curse. I have known young women who had conceived for the 5th or 6th time who felt ashamed, would apologize and duck their heads. SHAME ON US FOR MAKING THEM FEEL THIS WAY!! I am appalled at how some people in the church feel about children. I remember feeling badly to think I would be pregnant again, but I was ignorant and unlearned concerning God 's instruction in this matter. When I came to know Him better, I wept and asked God to forgive me. Have mercy on me O, Lord.

Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, The fruit of the womb is a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, So are the children of one's youth. Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them; They shall not be ashamed, But shall speak with their enemies in the gate. ...Blessed is every one who fears the LORD, Who walked in His ways. Ps 127:3-128:1

He grants the barren woman a home, Like a joyful mother of children. Praise the LORD! Ps 113:9

Barrenness was a curse in Bible times. Oh, how far we have drifted.

What Responsibility Do I Have in This?

Dear Sister, You may be past the age of bearing children but please do not discourage your daughters in having children. Do we not believe that God will provide for their needs? What a blessing to have grandchildren!

Our responsibility and duty in helping people to understand this is heavy and many, if not most , do not want to hear it. Many do not want to hear about abortion and the heartache it causes, (not to even mention the soul's death of the woman who has one) or what we might be able to do to help. God help us to be willing to be used by the Lord any way we can be used.

Deliver those who are drawn toward death, And hold back those stumbling to the slaughter.  If you say, "Surely we did not know this," Does not He who weighs the hearts consider it? He who keeps your soul, does He not know it? And will He not render to each man according to his deeds? Prov 24:11-12

May God help us in this matter. May we humble ourselves in His sight.
